Bakersfield College Program Review Committee facilitates the reviews of nearly 140 instructional, CT, Hybrid, non-instructional and administrative programs. As PRC develops its cycle, we meet with Assessment, Curriculum and other committees to update the forms included in program review. “Adjusting the dial” through dialog with committees, PRC ensures the cycle is relevant and supports every program to be student-ready, and all services and activities from admissions to the classroom, and every program and service in between, are intentionally designed to facilitate student equity, success, progression, and completion. Streamlining the resource request process has greatly increased operational transparency to our community.

In this session, we will demonstrate how a successful data load solution may be implemented, through identifying and extracting SIS data and staging it in an intermediary workspace, validating the extracted data and converting it to an XML file for upload. The presentation will include examples of dependency and referential integrity checking of the data, as well as creating a functional specification that covers the scope of the SIS data that is extracted, and how it is mapped to the respective eLumen items. Finally, we will demonstrate a fully self-contained integration solution that generates the XML file directly from SQL Script and stages the file for upload.
This presentation will focus on competencies taught in courses and the differences between Course and Learning outcomes as they relate to assessment. Competency attainment is a hot topic in education, as we continually align course design with current competency frameworks, especially in career-oriented programs. We will share best practices on where to find current competency frameworks, micro-credentials, industry credentials, skills vs. competencies, and more. Our focus will be how this information helps with program development, institutional data, and continuous improvement. We will also discuss how students can differentiate their learning path and share competencies with others such as potential employers and other institutions.
